What to Expect for Current DES Participants

The Department of Social Services (DSS) will contact all current DES participants with two letters:

  • Letter 1 explains the upcoming changes
  • Letter 2 tells you which provider you’ve been allocated to for Inclusive Employment Australia

Important dates:

  • Participant Choice Period: 24 September – 16 October 2025
During this time, you can change to your preferred provider before Inclusive Employment Australia starts
  • Inclusive Employment Australia begins: 1 November 2025

If you’re already with AXIS Employment:

  • Keep attending your appointments – nothing changes for now
  • If Letter 2 says you’re allocated to AXIS Employment, you don’t need to do anything. We’ll keep supporting you
  • If Letter 2 says you’re allocated to another provider, talk to your AXIS Employment Consultant about your options. If you choose to stay with AXIS Employment, call the DES Transition Line on 1800 227 337 during the Participant Choice Period

If you’re with another DES provider but want to join AXIS Employment:

  • If Letter 2 doesn’t allocate you to AXIS Employment, call the DES Transition Line on 1800 227 337 during the Participant Choice Period (24 September – 16 October 2025) to switch
  • If you miss the choice period, you can still change to AXIS Employment after 1 November 2025 by contacting the National Customer Service Line on 1800 805 260
  • You can also speak to your current provider anytime, visit the DSS Participant webpage at dss.gov.au/information-participants, or call the DES transition line on 1800 227 337 if you have questions before the choice period starts

If you’re not linked with DES but want to join AXIS Employment:

  • Inclusive Employment Australia is open to more people – you may be eligible even if you’re not on income support
  • You can register your interest with AXIS Employment now and we’ll contact you to discuss your options in the Inclusive Employment Australia program
